Ayabie

History:
Founded in 2004, Ayabie's colorful combination of traditional Japanese melody and anime-inspired energy - accented with a few metal riffs - quickly earned them a devoted following. Their first single, Chousoi sou yori san rin, made it into the top ten of the Oricon indies charts. Less than a year later the had released their first album Ayabie Soukan Ongen-shu and soon thereafter sold out the 1,100 person O-East in Tokyo! The addition of permanent drummer Kenzo, made Ayabie stronger than ever.
2006 saw them kick off their fanclub and, in June, play their first hugely success overseas tour in Europe. In Finland alone, nearly 1,000 people came out to see them! Upon their return to Japan, the songwriter and guitarist Ryohei decided to leave the band, but the other members, believeing in their vision of what the band could be, joined up with guitarist Yumehito and soon released a released a full album, Virgin Snow Color, which showed a more somber and mature side of Ayabie.
To kick off 2007, the band interspersed Japanese shows with four shows in Korea. That summer they went for their second European tour, this time playing seven shows from Sweden to Spain. As the releases continued fast and furious (12 in 2007 alone!), the band played their longest Japanese tour ever and planned for the next step: Universal!
With a distribution deal from Universal, their first single of 2008, "Meltaway" was their biggest hit yet: reaching #1 on the Japanese indie charts, and breaking into the Top 20 on the major charts! Now this electronic-metal-japanese-

pop-rock band is launching their first ever US tour! Don't let it pass you by!

One of the original members of Ayabie, Aoi's combination of gentle tenor and harsh screams, not to mention crazy para-para, first came to prominence with the band Mask, who he left in 2004 to join Ayabie. Although he has a cute image and listens mostly to J-pop, he has a surprisingly somber side that comes out of some of Ayabie's ballads. But never fear, his brilliant smile, perhaps accented by some cat ears, will make sure fans always leave happy!

Weight: 99 lbs
Likes: Curry, pizza, ramen

A former member of popular young act Soroban, Yumehito only joined Ayabie in November 2006, but he quickly became an essential member of the band, writing most of the music and adding extra sparkle to their live shows with his brilliant grin and hilarious impersonations of everyone from J-pop artist Gackt to Ultraman.

Guitar: Takehito
Blood type: A
Birthday: August 24th
Sign: Virgo
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 130 lbs
Likes: Marboro menthol light

One of the original members of Ayabie, Takehito is perhaps the quietest member of the band, but he loves playing his guitar solos and is also in charge of the acoustic guitar work on Ayabie's albums and shows.

Favorite brands: agnes b., jam home made, Anna Sui, Hermes, Tiffany, Black Peace Now
Favorite music: Grind core, X Japan, Slayer, Sepultura, Rammstein, Envy, syrup 16, cupsule
Don't let Intetsu's grin and crazy on-stage demeanor fool you: he's the leader of Ayabie and serious about his music. Just watch him play his six-string and you see his metal roots and love of music. He also speaks the best English of the band.

Drums: Kenzo
Blood type: A
Birthday: December 9th
Sign: Sagittarius
Height: About 6'4"
Weight: About one ton
Likes: Lucky Strike (soft), sunglasses, darts, billiard etc_
Dislikes: Japanese ghosts, insects, onions, garlic, leek, chives etc.
Favorite place: In my futon
Favorite brand: Roen roar, mastermindjapan, Coalblack, Ash & Diamonds
Favorite band/musician: Kiss, Dream Theater, anything with female vocalists, soundtracks
With perhaps the toughest image of the band, it's no surprise that Kenzo, who joined in Spring 2005, is the drummer. As for his approach to life, it's written on his drum: "Whatever the f**k I want."
