History:
Founded in 2004, Ayabie's colorful combination of traditional Japanese melody and anime-inspired energy - accented with a few metal riffs - quickly earned them a devoted following. Their first single, Chousoi sou yori san rin, made it into the top ten of the Oricon indies charts. Less than a year later the had released their first album Ayabie Soukan Ongen-shu and soon thereafter sold out the 1,100 person O-East in Tokyo! The addition of permanent drummer Kenzo, made Ayabie stronger than ever.
2006 saw them kick off their fanclub and, in June, play their first hugely success overseas tour in Europe. In Finland alone, nearly 1,000 people came out to see them! Upon their return to Japan, the songwriter and guitarist Ryohei decided to leave the band, but the other members, believeing in their vision of what the band could be, joined up with guitarist Yumehito and soon released a released a full album, Virgin Snow Color, which showed a more somber and mature side of Ayabie.
To kick off 2007, the band interspersed Japanese shows with four shows in Korea. That summer they went for their second European tour, this time playing seven shows from Sweden to Spain. As the releases continued fast and furious (12 in 2007 alone!), the band played their longest Japanese tour ever and planned for the next step: Universal!
With a distribution deal from Universal, their first single of 2008, "Meltaway" was their biggest hit yet: reaching #1 on the Japanese indie charts, and breaking into the Top 20 on the major charts! Now this electronic-metal-japanese-
